"Tango In La Boca"
9" x 12" Collage and Mixed Media
One of my fellow South Side Art Club artists thought the grey wall on the left was too stark against the highly patterned piece. Penny suggested adding the suggestion of some bricks. Instead, I decided to go back and rework the painting. You can see the original here. I wanted to soften some of the edges of the red of the building as well. Gerald Brommer told us to just keep adding collage paper until the thing got too thick to frame!
I'm still not sure. Might have to darken the section on the left. Thoughts?

I really like both versions, but probably prefer this one! I love the movement and the color! Well done.
This is a tough choice, Mary. I copied these to my Picasa program, converted them to B&W, and still can't decide (the copies are very small). I looked at them side-by-side. No. 2 makes the couple the center; No. 1 has interesting shapes around the couple.
As you can see, I'm having no problem posting a comment. I also checked from my iPad--no problem. I don't think I was being directed to this white comment page early yesterday. All is well with your blog.
beautiful work...
I like it as is, Mary.
Thanks for giving me these comments, blog friends.
Hallie, I feel the same way. I am torn -- appropriate for collage! Glad you can post now. Perhaps changing that one setting made a difference.
I asked my drawing instructor for his critique. He's an extremely accomplished oil painter. He likes the newer version, but he would like to see some red tinted lighter
on the the left panel, under the words Libertango. I am going to do it and you will see the results.
I compared both of them and I truly like this one better...The pattern makes it look much better!! More to see...
