A few days ago my son Jeff sent me a picture of his garden. They were experiencing subzero weather. When I was there last summer, they had just put up their scarecrow. At the time she was wearing a large hat with Beth's dress and looked quite stylish as she protected the prolific plants from pesky birds. The crops have been harvested and eaten, canned, or frozen. The garden was put to bed a few months ago. Ms. Scarecrow continues her cheerful watch in the Northeast Kingdom.

Hi Mary! This is a very beautiful painting..:) the colors are pretty smooth. Do keep in touch dear!
I love this Mary! It has hints of a Eyvind Earle painting. Just lovely and quaint.
I love this one, Mary! A girl scarecrow??? Perfect! And I am quite pleased to know that your son and his wife can foods and grow their own. Seems such a dying art these days (and I don't do it either).
Oh, how great!! And, I can relate. We're having a heck of a winter here in the Northeast.
Megha, how nice to hear from you. I will check in with your blog.
Sheila, I remember how much I enjoyed seeing Eyvind Earle's paintings in Carmel. What a lovely compliment.
Sherry, yup a girl scarecrow. My son is the only male in the family of four and he loves having women in his life. They thrive on growing most of their vegetables on their small gentleman's farm. Jeff loves to cook, and the two of them can and freeze for the winter.
Kathy, thanks! You are indeed having a heck of a winter. We've had an unusually warm January, which is probably bad for a water supply, but we are enjoying the sunny warm days.
How delightful, Mary! I love the subtle color shading on the dress. I don't remember ever seeing a scarecrow in the winter!
Simply beautiful, Mary--the posts, the trees, and the scarecrow(ess).
Christiane, thanks -- the dress was beginning to show some signs of being out in the sun.
Hallie, thanks! I like that the scarecrow(ess) is not your usual. Somehow she looks rather grand in her snowy garden.
A beautiful winter scene. Friendly too. I love your style!
Love the color in this one. Wonderful.
Pam and Becky, thanks for checking in. I am quite fond of this little piece.
