Very French

Fruit and Wine
17" x 14"
Pastel
My apologies to anyone receiving posts that were empty or looked strange. I was having some problems that I believe I have now corrected.

Today I finished this still life in drawing class. Bob had to coach me along, and he even worked on the right persimmon and some of the wine bottle to show me how to achieve the appropriate values, chroma, solidity, and transparency. Difficult but an excellent learning experience. This one reminds me of several wonderful trips to France, where we enjoyed the fresh fuits and French wines.

Wow!!! This looks fabulous Mary! This is a larger piece also, so much more challenging to work larger. How fun this class must have been.

A lovely still life - full of life. Isn't it great taking classes? I am taking watercolor classes from a master watercolorist, Jerry Stitt (AWS) and having such fun and learning so much about the craft.

Hi Mary, You are definitely adventurous! I like the subtle colors of your back and foreground. It works well with you subject; there is a nice, vibrancy about the entire piece; wonderful!

Jean, it is terrific to take classes from such masters. I just checked out Jerry Stitt's work and it's wonderful. I am sure you are learning a lot from him.

Barbra Joan, thanks for keeping in touch. Very French -- I love the fruit, cheeses and wine when I've been in France. When Bob set that still life up, I wanted to reach for my beret.

Peggy, thanks for your encouragement!
